Howard Community College, Howard Hall & Academic Commons Renovation

Marshall Craft Associates, Inc. served as the Architect of Record for the renovations to the Nursing and ST buildings, now renamed Howard Hall and the Academic Commons. The renovated space supports the Social Sciences and Teacher Education Division, and provides additional space related to the hospitality and culinary program, student life, the center for service learning, teaching and learning services, mediation and conflict resolution, faculty development, honors center, information technology, instructional media, and administration.
The project incorporates a flexible classroom design that uses robust instructional technology to support evolving teaching styles and multiple active learning configurations within the same room. The project also replaced all mechanical and electrical systems; the work was phased and completed while portions of the building were occupied.
Howard Community College’s goal of creating a learning and teaching facility that is on par with its other campus buildings was achieved within budget and on schedule.
