The Volkar Center for Athletic Achievement was designed to help Gonzaga University’s student athletes succeed in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. The new building infills space between three existing buildings to provide student athletes with facilities and support services reflective of the university’s elite status in the NCAA.

Situated on the third floor of Volkar Center, the Rian G. Oliver Student Athlete Enrichment Center provides a centralized space for services previously housed in several cramped locations throughout campus. The center includes study rooms, labs, and classrooms designed to accommodate multiple learning styles. Classrooms and supporting study spaces are equipped for video conferencing; breakout and huddle spaces provide additional collaboration opportunities.

The focus of the interior design is on the vibrant brand of Gonzaga Athletics visible from many spaces within Volkar Center. Maximizing the Student Athlete Enrichment Center’s connection to its beautiful exterior context is another key interior design element. The south-facing roof deck patio features stunning 180-degree views of downtown Spokane and Gonzaga’s lower campus to the south.
