The Gary & Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center (RASC) reinforces Rutgers University’s goals to improve academic outcomes, personal growth, and student wellness. The facility consolidates educational support space for all student-athletes. Working closely with Rutgers Institutional Planning and Operations and Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, EwingCole developed the RASC into the signature facility of Rutgers athletics and academics. It combines modernized learning spaces with an athletic training facility. The center is the new home for the men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse programs and includes dedicated training and equipment spaces for each, new lounges and meeting spaces, offices, and locker rooms. The design team also created innovative learning environments that service and nurture all student athlete academic pursuits while setting the standard for the future. Among the spaces provided: the elegant Fireside Commons, a multipurpose room, and a variety of private or semi-private study spaces. Through a comprehensive branding approach, EwingCole’s experiential graphic design team used each corridor or room as an opportunity to tell Rutgers’ story and illustrate Rutgers’ championship culture.
