A newly founded institution, Olin College admitted its first class in September 2002. Olin offers a unique curriculum focused on rigorous preparation in the fundamentals of engineering, project- and team-based learning, and the integration of engineering and business. East Hall sits adjacent to another residence hall and completes a formal edge along the east side of the great lawn.
The project houses 19 six-bedroom suites and 32 doubles. Unique program components include a staff apartment, a faculty apartment, a faculty/student meeting room, music practice rooms, a fitness room and a first-floor community kitchen. The interior layout of each floor centers around an elliptical lounge and an open, sun-lighted feature stair. A maple panel ceiling canopy, custom maple millwork built-ins and contemporary soft seating define this core and create an inviting hub for student interaction. Transparent group-study rooms and a study alcove with a spectacular view adjoin the lounge space. Each is punctuated with a color accent wall to add vitality to the overall interior.
Bedrooms are furnished with streamlined maple modular furniture to maximize space and flexibility. Oversized corner windows create a large amount of space within relatively small rooms.
