Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School, Chapel and Performing Arts Center
Las Vegas, Nevada
The concept for the Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School called for a campus of several smaller buildings around a central courtyard to emulate the essence of a small, rural college. The campus commands beautiful views of both nearby Red Rock Canyon and of the bright lights of Las Vegas.
The Chapel and Performing Arts Center is about 30,520 square feet, consisting of an 814-seat auditorium that is used for a variety of activities such as theater, concert productions and weekly chapel. This auditorium encompasses a stage, orchestra pit, fly loft and rigging features. It also includes lobby space used to display student art, three classrooms, a band/choir room with adjacent practice rooms, offices and storage areas.
The goal of the Chapel and Performing Arts Center was to create a state-of-the-art performance space that responds to contextual elements of the campus. Concrete masonry units have been utilized in various patterns throughout most of the building. Remotely situated mechanical units and large underground ducts greatly enhance the acoustical quality of the auditorium.
