Engineering and Research Building
Statesboro, Georgia
The Engineering & Research Building (ERB) at Georgia Southern University is a new, dynamic facility designed to support the university’s mission to create a 21st-century model for research and learning and spur economic development in southeast Georgia. The facility is the home of the manufacturing and mechanical engineering departments and the Center for Innovative Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Solutions. They are part of the renowned Paulson College of Engineering and Computing, which promotes excellence in faculty scholarship and teaching, fosters experiential learning, and partners with regional stakeholders.
The ERB is composed of classrooms, seminar rooms, a variety of academic and research labs, including a 300-foot-long high bay lab, a clean lab, and faculty and graduate research offices. Interdisciplinary collaboration is promoted by the proximity of research labs to the academic and administrative areas. The research modules are designed for maximum flexibility so they can serve as teaching laboratories and be adapted later into research labs. The interior design supports the broad design goals of visibility, cooperative flexibility, and sustainable functionality.
