Enfield K-2 Early Learning Center Cafeteria
Erdenheim, Pennsylvania
The new Enfield Early Learning Center dining commons is not a typical cafeteria, but an excellent example of multifunctional space design. Serving 750 students in grades K to 2, the space is used for lunch servings for each grade level, for project-based learning activities throughout the day for this young age group, and as community space. To accommodate larger performances and a variety of events—both school and public related—the center is situated near the main entrance. The adjacency to the kitchen and gymnasium provides a building amenity that is used well beyond a couple of hours a day. The function of the space also serves as one of the anchors to support the school’s STEAM curriculum.
