Eastern Shore Community College, Business Development and Workforce Training Center
Melfa, Virginia
Eastern Shore Community College, situated near Melfa, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, offers associate degree programs, as well as continuing education in a variety of career-oriented subject matter. With the college and community’s goals in mind, the architect designed the Business Development and Workforce Training Center, which represents Phase I of the new campus master plan, and includes an expanded campus infrastructure and perimeter road system.
The building addresses an increased demand for courses in technology, health services and new industry skills, as well as the need for a venue to accommodate community meetings, assemblies and social events.
The new site development facilitates convenient access and parking for staff and students, and creates a more unified campus for this public community college. Now a campus beacon along U.S. Route 13, the facility provides flexible classrooms and assembly spaces, computer training labs, conference rooms, faculty offices and an industrial training lab. A large multifunction assembly hall can accommodate technical equipment instruction, and catered college and community events.
