Dr. Justina Ford Elementary is a newly constructed school that opened in August 2021 and is designed to educate over 650 students. Each grade-level classroom wing has a large group space at its center with two smaller breakout spaces, including glass operable walls. This large group area is also connected to each classroom via garage-style, overhead doors. This design provides sightlines for teachers, flexibility for student learning, and a collaborative environment. The school is also outfitted with flexible furniture designed for 21st-century learning environments, creating a symbiotic relationship with the construction elements. All pieces of furniture are easily movable and adjustable. The building has mountain views from the upper-level corridor, views of the two outdoor learning environments, and natural lighting in each classroom. The classroom lighting controls are specifically programmed for testing, reading, audiovisual instruction, and energy efficiency.
