DePauw University, Robert G. Bottoms Alumni and Development Center
Greencastle, Indiana
DePauw University’s vision was to transform an abandoned 1920s house into a landing spot for visiting alumni, and an office space for alumni engagement and development staff.
Rowland’s designers were intentional in the design of the structure’s addition to assure that it aligned with the original home’s Georgian architecture. The interiors were brought to a more contemporary standard, but worked in concert with the classically designed exterior. Artfully branded, interior colors of black and gold were woven throughout to reflect the school’s brand.
Thoughtfully crafted floor plans for the multilevel facility make better use of the existing real estate and create environments that foster the desired culture. The welcome center “living room” is outfitted with custom technology. A multipurpose space and large porch open to the front patio for alumni events, and double as a work and meeting space. A warming kitchen and serving area finish the first floor and provide amenities necessary for alumni activities.
The lower level features a large lounge and game room. Newly created private offices inhabit the second and third floors.
