Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center
Arlington, Texas
The center embraces the theme “Exhibiting Opportunity” as students experience industry for their chosen future careers. The school is organized into 18 academies. Large expanses of glass between the open collaboration spaces put the learning process on display. This concept of showcasing the various academies is intended to foster mutual enrichment among the different programs and expose students to careers they may have never considered.
Each academy has a visual connection to “Main Street,” which serves as the primary open collaboration area for students. Walking down Main Street, observers will see multiple active learning environments that offer students relevant industry experience. From academy to academy, students are engaged in hands-on learning activities such as installing HVAC equipment in a residential house simulation, exploring the judicial and legal branches of government in a functioning mock courtroom, learning how to incorporate chemistry in hair styling, performing vehicle wheel alignments, and operating a live student-led broadcast in a TV studio.
