Jim and Sally Nation Hall is one of the newest additions to the Dallas Baptist University campus. Modeled after Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home, this building is unique and one of the most fascinating buildings on campus.
Prominently situated adjacent to Patty and Bo Pilgrim Chapel, Nation Hall is on the central axis of the main campus entry to University Hill overlooking Swan Lake on campus and Mountain Creek Lake toward the western horizon.
The facility was built to house the Gary Cook School of Leadership. The Central Hall and Grand Hall offer space for receptions, banquets, and other formal events. The building houses a harp, a grand piano, and a harpsichord on the main floor. Upstairs, a balcony overlooks the main floor and a large classroom inside the dome room.
Meeting rooms, administrative support office space, faculty offices, student study and reading areas, and specialty collection academic libraries are dispersed throughout Nation Hall. The porticos, terraces, and garden areas around the building will be used for all kinds of student activities and outdoor events. The building features state-of-the-art technology and multimedia capabilities for classroom instructional support.
Just as Thomas Jefferson designed Monticello to be a place for personal restoration, retreat, and learning, Nation Hall also will be such a place by offering students an environment in which mental and spiritual growth is encouraged and promoted.
