The Jack and Mary De Witt Center for Science and Technology is a state-of-the-art learning environment in which the study of faith and science is enriched by a building design that showcases the university’s Christian values and mission. In this space, students tackle environmental issues, create solid ethical medical foundations, develop innovations and design technologies as they are empowered to advance the growing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

The building has nine laboratories, classrooms, multipurpose lecture hall, faculty offices, outdoor plaza and rain garden. Ecology and the environment are incorporated as a learning tool throughout the facility. Outdoor classrooms provide connected places for learning. The form of the building is intentional, shedding water to a series of rain gardens that flow to the university’s central lake. Water and abundant natural light are essential components to learning about science, and reflect important spiritual teachings. The university challenged the design team to create a state-of-the-art STEM environment that reflects Christ as Creator and shows a strong connection between science and faith.
