Columbia University, McBain Hall

Aarris Architects and Associates, LLC, a firm based in Harlem, New York, was selected to renovate McBain Hall at Columbia University.
It will be among of the first few residence halls at the university to feature a plant wall, affectionately referred to as the Living Wall.
Nicole Hollant-Denis, lead designer and owner of Aarris Architects, says, “The Living Wall brings fresh air and a fresh appearance to the entryway and lobby space.”
The students have said that the plant wall inspires, comforts and reminds them that McBain is a healthful place to live.
McBain Hall has become one of the campus housing sites that students look forward to occupying. Complete with new windows, new lounges, study rooms, dorm rooms, a fitness room, bathrooms and laundry facilities, McBain Hall is now the envy of other residence halls.
