Clark County School District and Vegas PBS worked together to represent Virtual High School and the public broadcasting station’s interests.

The architect worked to meet the complicated, functional requirements of the largest high school in the district, with 5,500 students and the technological interface to serve Clark County School District’s electronically transmitted teaching needs—all while meeting the needs of a vibrant and growing public broadcasting facility. This interface required production of live classroom instruction, which can be distributed live throughout the district and recorded for future districtwide viewing. An example is a fully functional science classroom, situated in a production studio designed to enable Vegas PBS staff to execute the production while CCSD Virtual High School staff members teach students.

Combining the programs into a single high-tech facility that could share electronics while maintaining their own missions led to a design with two single wings and a central core. The use of technology and LEED requirements blended into the design to create a 21st-century facility. This project achieved a LEED gold certification.
