The Center for Advanced Learning is a regional public secondary-education facility that provides learning opportunities for students attending the high schools of four East Multnomah County school districts. In partnership with Mount Hood Community College and the business and government community, the Center for Advanced Learning focuses on providing learning environments in which students can develop skills more sophisticated and specialized than those typically acquired in a comprehensive high school. The facility incorporates state-of-the-art equipment and distance-learning technologies to better prepare students for success in college or other occupational training programs.
Situated in a developing urban district and directly serviced by Tri-Met’s MAX line, the center will draw from both higher-education and business pools for its instructors. Initial programs offered include medical/health, information technology and pre-engineering/advanced manufacturing.
The Center for Advanced Learning will serve as a national model for bringing together the business community, higher education and high school students to provide real-world education for the jobs of tomorrow.
