The objective of this project was to create a durable, easy-to-navigate intermediate school campus that offers an educationally responsive, high-tech learning environment. The project’s unique design elements encourage education through visual association.
The building has three towers sweeping the facade that offer a cutting-edge, modern personality. By combining traditional, low-maintenance materials such as masonry and aluminum to produce contemporary shapes, forms and color patterns, the architect created an active learning environment where students learn as they navigate the campus. Bold, twisting and turning wall and floor patterns create an identity for each territory. Strategic floor markings assist in line-forming and circulation.
Because of 360-degree visibility, the school had to be aesthetically sound on all four sides; each side had to address community, aesthetics and functionality.
The campus’ technology capabilities ensure students have the latest resources and tools with which to learn. Spaces for wireless nodes and cable tracking have been included to offer flexibility and adaptability for future technology trends such as wireless computing.
The design provides an aesthetically appealing, educationally responsive learning environment that highlights technology.
