The design objective was to create a school building where students would be proud to come each day to learn and achieve. Those entering the building are greeted by a grand hall with a focal staircase that draws students and faculty into the school. Ribboning forms and linear graphics guide the students and faculty toward the open and centrally situated cafeteria. Strong connections between interior and exterior spaces, including an expansive south-facing courtyard off the cafeteria, promote views of nature and bring an abundance of natural light into the interior spaces.

Durability, sustainability, and cost control were critical to delivering a budget-conscious project with an engaging student environment. The light-filled cafeteria’s indoor and outdoor learning spaces provide a mix of areas for students to learn, including adjacent breakout rooms with folding glass walls. The final product is a place where students and families can think, dream big, and see the possibilities for their futures.
