Bradley University, Renaissance Coliseum
Peoria, Illinois
The Renaissance Coliseum is a 165,200-square-foot facility dedicated to Division I Intercollegiate Athletics and serves as a showcase venue for women’s basketball and volleyball, as well as a new practice facility for men’s basketball. It replaces the 60-year-old Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse and required building within a few feet of a 100-year-old boiler plant. The exterior design harmonizes with the surrounding campus buildings, using precast and similar detailing to adjacent buildings, with a curved roof to emulate the former fieldhouse.
Upon entry, spectators are greeted with a soaring skylighted lobby, ascending into a mezzanine surrounding the main seating arena. The views of the 4,200-seat performance court below provides an intimate feeling for the fans.
The practice facility for men’s basketball includes athletic administration and coaching offices for all sports, the Hall of Fame, lounges and film viewing, hospitality room overlooking all courts, tutoring suite, conference rooms, ticket office and athletic training area, including three hydrotherapy pools. The facility is equipped to handle events such as commencement, concerts and other entertainment activities.
