Bishop Gorman’s reputation as a sports powerhouse is bolstered by its new Athletic Training Center, an imposing two-story facility at the south end of the football stadium. Although not open to the general public, the center’s fitness programs are available to students, faculty and alumni.
The focal point of the facility is the 12,000-square-foot weight and fitness room on the first floor. An expansive wall of glass on the north side of the room provides an unobstructed view of the stadium. Also situated on the first floor are the coaches’ offices, an 80-seat, tiered lecture hall, a training center and collegiate-level locker rooms. The training center provides treatment tables, a whirlpool, a cold plunge pool and a conditioning pool.
A two-story lobby gives access to the second floor, dedicated to a divisible reception space that connects to a long balcony overlooking the field, permitting alumni and faculty to view sporting events. On the exterior, a massive LED display screen is incorporated into the north elevation, facing the football field.
