Antelope High School Performing Arts Center
Antelope, California
John Sergio Fischer & Associates is the architect, theater consultant and acoustician for this new high school performing arts center in the Roseville Joint Unified School District.
The center has a multifunctional theater with full support spaces. It is designed to be used by the school, the community and area churches. The theater seating is retractable and removable, which enables the theater to be converted to a flat-floor dancing, meeting, dining and party space.
It’s a one-of-a-kind flexible theater. It has several modes: the full 570 seats; just the parterre seating with 280 seats on the telescoping seating; and no seating—the orchestra seating is removed, and the floor panels are raised to stage level. A tension grid covers the stage and the seating areas for full theatrical lighting flexibility. The theater has a giant LED screen upstage with large flanking screens above in lieu of a rigging system for stage sets.
