American University, Don Myers Technology and Innovation Building
Washington, District of Columbia
The Don Meyers Technology and Innovation Building provides a state-of-the-art environment for computer science, physics, mathematics and statistics.
It is home to the university’s new game design and persuasive play program, a partnership between the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Communication.
Classrooms and department offices flank a network of informal learning spaces. This network of spaces lines the main corridors to encourage casual interaction and breakout activities.
Feature areas, such as the Problem-Based Instructional Studio, the Collaboration Space and the Persuasive Gaming Lab, have been co-located with the building’s main entrances to promote visibility. The building houses a variety of general classrooms, physics teaching and research labs, computer science faculty labs and a business incubator space.
This facility is a part of a larger $91.5 million East Campus development that includes three buildings for student housing, conferences, event space, the department of public safety, a parking garage, retail, landscaped plazas and surface parking.
