The Institute for Education and Research was established to address the shift of patient care from an inpatient to an outpatient setting, as well as the impact of information technology on medical education.

The plan organizes the program into two zones linked by common circulation. One zone, dedicated to medical students and fellows, has conference rooms, a ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOST PER SQ FT$80.26FEATURED IN2001 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYClassrooms for 30, a computer laboratory/study room and lounge area with kitchen. The other zone accommodates offices for faculty and researchers.

The computer laboratory/study room provides unique “smart” modules where pairs of students have access to their own computers and to the instructor’s screen. The room also provides lounge space for medical students on their rotation at the ambulatory-care building.

The institute is an environment where students and faculty learn through interaction via virtual-learning supplements and new academic curricula to enhance the quality of medical care and patient outcomes.
