The existing gymnasium and cafeteria space were renovated to create a new 750-seat cafeteria and food court. The project presented a number of challenges and opportunities. These included the redesign of the existing ground-level cafeteria, which was dark and congested, and the incorporation of a new food court into the existing second-level gymnasium space. The existing gym had limited natural light, so new windows were cut into the west wall, and a new pyramid skylight opened up the dense roof structure and created a visual focal point. At the ground floor, the original kitchen was moved to allow significant additional windows and glass, which opened the interior space to natural light.

A distinctive transformation was achieved by emphasizing the 25-foot ceilings, exposed open-web trusses and hardwood floors for an open and contemporary dining space.
