Through a renovation and an addition at Norman High School, a new Freshman Academy, a College and Career Academy, and a Learning Commons were created. The design team used Norman’s bright orange throughout the design so that each space flows seamlessly into the next.
The Freshman Academy is an area separate from the main school. The school library had become a place where students no longer spent much time. The design team converted it into a learning commons with a coffee shop atmosphere. Luxury vinyl tile flooring provides a cleanable hard surface with the warmth and comfort of wood; areas for quiet study are carpeted. The Learning Commons has become a hub that students use throughout the day.
The College and Career Center prepares students for opportunities after graduation. With a collegiate feel achieved through use of wood wall panels, unique furniture, and private study rooms, this sophisticated space exudes Norman pride.
