The addition includes an observation deck used for the instruction of take-offs and landings.
The focal point of the lobby entrance is a repurposed 747-Half Cowling reception desk salvaged from a 747 Jumbo Jet. A large student lounge with an open, airy feel features high ceilings and custom Tulsa skyline wall graphics. The airplane hangar was modernized with all new finishes, LED lighting and a foam generator fire suppression system. Existing small offices, which had low ceilings, non-code-compliant restrooms, vertical conveying systems and obsolete HVAC and lighting systems, were replaced with new stairs and an elevator, a VRF HVAC system and energy-efficient LED lighting.
The Riverside Aviation Center curriculum includes air traffic control and flight instruction as well as general education courses. This renovation provides a creative, authentic and effective learning environment for students.
