Olivet Nazarene University, Engineering Expansion at Reed Hall

Having doubled in size during the past five years, Olivet Nazarene University’s Department of Engineering required new, contemporary facilities to accommodate its growing program. Interior Image Group was commissioned to carry out a 25,000-square-foot renovation and addition at the Reed Hall College of Engineering, originally constructed in 1966.

Refined and polished public spaces transition into raw materials and textures in the private spaces such as classrooms and labs. Green, signifying growth, and yellow, signifying excitement, are used as accents to evoke students evolving in their education, thought processes, and creativity.
Phase 1, completed in Fall 2013, consisted of renovating a two-story auditorium into a lower-level technology lab and a collaborative student lounge.
Phase 2, new construction, consisting of offices, classrooms, student labs and studios, was completed in July 2014. The use of recycled construction materials, along with a variety of other design components, reiterates the “refined meets raw” concept throughout the rest of the space.
