Situating the library/media center, performing arts and gymnasium at the front of the campus enables convenient joint usage among students, faculty and the public.

The 400-seat performing-arts center is configured for live theater, lecture and testing, as well as community assembly space.

The primary objectives achieved in the performing-arts center:

•The creation of an intimate setting through the use of warm wood tones and accent lighting.

•Dedicated adjacent support spaces including instructional, rehearsal and technical.

•Electrical lighting that is 25 percent more efficient than Title 24 baselines.

Designed as a performing-arts laboratory, all areas of the theater are used for hands-on teaching. Catwalks, fly spaces, sound and lighting systems facilitate all forms of artistic expression.

"This joint-use facility is filled with clean lines, and is an outstanding use of natural and artificial light."--2010 jury
