The district wanted to transform community perceptions of the building—to have it recognized as the “new high school” rather than the “old middle school.” The additions were designed to envelop the existing building and provide the school with a new exterior architectural expression.

In addition, major outdoor field improvements took place on the site, including new concession buildings, baseball fields, a softball field and football stadium.
