In order to keep up with current technology advancements and curriculum demands, the San Jacinto College District opened three interactive learning centers in 2004, one for each of its campuses. The Central Campus Interactive Learning Center stands as a new front-door image for the 40-year-old Pasadena campus. Aside from the daunting task of selecting appropriate technology for this facility, the design team spent a great deal of time selecting colors, materials, finishes and furniture. Ergonomically designed chairs, tables, keyboard trays and adjustable monitor arms were incorporated into every space. Thousands of unsightly wires were hidden in work surfaces and teaching podiums.

Aside from the building’s $9.6 million price tag, $4 million was dedicated to technology equipment and furniture, making the San Jacinto College Central Campus Interactive Learning Center one of the most technologically advanced college facilities in the state.

"Exciting space...great use of color, contrast and materials. High-tech at a great price!"--2004 jury
