With a burgeoning student enrollment that shows no signs of slowing, administrators of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation recognized that two new elementary schools were necessary. Cutting costs and maintaining a spirit of community within the school system quickly emerged as the top design priorities. The new elementary schools will share common spaces, such as a full-service kitchen, mechanical room and technology hub. Each school will be operated with its own administrators and staff. Also, each building will have separate classrooms, commons areas and parking lots. Both schools will feature a town square theme, creating a concept in which grade levels are grouped together in defined areas. The academic, community, fine arts and administrative areas are configured to represent the different but integrated elements of a town square.
This unique plan will result in a substantial cost savings to the school corporation, while upholding the standards of quality education insisted upon by the community.
