The scope of work included renovating and improving an existing university-owned courtyard apartment complex for student residence and adding a multipurpose meeting/conference room to serve the wider university community.

Improvements include new fire-alarm, fire-suppression and emergency power systems, along with complete telephone/data rewiring to provide Category ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOST PER SQ FT$44.37FEATURED IN2000 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYRenovation Ethernet access to each resident. Existing wheelchair-access apartments, elevators and all path-of-travel elements were upgraded to meet access requirements. The entire building was structurally upgraded to improve seismic resistance.

Renovations included new kitchens and bathrooms; cabinets, fixtures and appliances; new interior and exterior finished surfaces throughout; and new furniture. The courtyard received new hardscape and planting. Surrounding landscape areas were extensively replanted.

The newly built meeting room is set within the courtyard and can accommodate a seated audience of 100 or remain unfurnished for social events.
