The Nevada Ballet Theatre serves as the main academic campus for this non-profit organization located in the master-planned community of Summerlin.
Its prominent location defined the dramatic, curvilinear design, enhancing its strong identity and representation of movement. It is developed as two independent wings enveloping a pivotal entry courtyard of COST PER SQ FT$100.47FEATURED IN2000 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYSpecialized facility’s 35,000 square feet. Between the wings, an axial breezeway provides a social gathering space for the theatre’s students and performance patrons. Instructional and practice studios for dance and the visual arts are of varying sizes. A viewing gallery extends perpendicular to the breezeway, separating the performance area from administration. A gabled skylight infuses the interior with natural light.
Warm beige and sepia colors were selected to correspond with the desert environment and adjacent mountains. Masonry construction materials were chosen for economy, durability and low maintenance.
