Cinco Ranch High School supports 2,400 students with a comprehensive array of academics, fine arts, athletics and support spaces in a 433,000-square-foot structure developed on a master-planned, 66-acre site. To make this large facility efficient and comprehensible to students and visitors, all spaces are organized along a two-story mall that is capped with attractive, COST PER SQ FT$86.00FEATURED IN2000 Architectural Portfolio insulated skylight panels to allow natural light into the building.
The school’s two main wings feed off a central rotunda that acts as a “hinge” to tie the large facility together.
The central rotunda boasts an impressive floor covered with an 800-square-foot tiled cougar (constructed with more than 1,000 one-inch-square colored tiles). For optimum accessibility from both wings, the administration suites, cafeteria and library are centralized around this rotunda.
Each academic house within the facility has its own AP/counselors quarters for easy accessibility. Each classroom and the library contain several computer terminals for student and teacher use, all of which are wired to the districtwide network.
The school contains an eight-lane competition swimming pool in the indoor natatorium, as well as two full-size gymnasiums, tennis courts and athletic fields.
