The design team worked with Tuttle School’s principal, teachers, facilities department and the community throughout the planning and design phases to ensure that the campus projected a positive image, fostered a sense of community, promoted interaction and provided maximum flexibility.
Thirty-nine classrooms are provided for students in grades pre-K to 5. The COST PER SQ FT$108.00FEATURED IN2000 Architectural Portfolio is based predominantly on a “continuous progress” model that uses a flexible, standardized room layout. This layout allows students of similar abilities to be grouped together and advance at their own pace.
The school’s design allows for low-cost interior renovation, as space needs change. Currently, there are 741 student stations; however, the core facilities were designed to accommodate more than 1,000 students. The school was sited to accept the addition of modular classroom buildings without disrupting any daily activities.
