As part of Tulsa Public School’s 1996 bond program, Bryant Elementary received a new media/library center and kindergarten classroom. A site committee of parents, teachers and administrators developed the program and vision for an addition that would creatively connect the original 60-year-old school to a separate 30-year-old kindergarten with an exciting new COST PER SQ FT$97.95FEATURED IN2000 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYLibraries/Media Centers center.
The media center includes computers, network and multimedia servers, cable TV, and network connections with the school district. A variety of textures and colors, including soft-pastel ceilings, painted brick and split-face block walls, accent the functional areas to help define the circulation, controlled workroom, teacher resource center, multimedia area, computer resource area, group reading and computer instructional area. High windows provide natural light but limit visual distractions outside.
Original brick detail was reproduced at the connection to the existing school. An exterior entry allows the center to serve as a training resource for the community during the evenings and weekends.
