Because school officials wanted to minimize outdoor student traffic, architects created a closed campus with a Main Street concept, providing a space for appropriate student congregation. Main Street consists of colorful walls that playfully snake in and out, providing a fresh look that starkly contrasts traditionally long, flat, low-ceiling and white corridors. Main Street is the hub for all major areas of the “town” including classrooms, the media center, gymnasiums, the auditorium, the main office and the dining area. The dining area is complemented by several outdoor, yet enclosed courtyards where students can gather during lunch periods and other non-instructional times.
