St. Hubert Early Childhood Center is an 8,100-square-foot addition designed to serve children in pre-K and kindergarten. The plan includes two pre-K classrooms, two kindergarten classrooms and a staff planning room.
The large, 1,200-square-foot classrooms include storage rooms, restrooms, coat cubbies, service sinks, drinking fountains and computer workstations COST PER SQ FT$144.30FEATURED IN2000 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYClassroomsSUB CATEGORYSpecialized each room. Including all of these amenities within the room allows teachers to maintain visual contact with the children at all times.
Two-thirds of the classroom floor area is carpeted, and one-third of the floor area has vinyl floor covering for “wet” activities. The carpeted area has a circular accent color to suggest a storytelling or circle-time area for the children.
Island cabinetry in the vinyl floor area provides a work surface large enough for the entire class to gather around. The island cabinetry and the adjacent coat cubbies along the wall were designed at age-appropriate heights for each different grade level.
