The complex program required careful coordination in the laboratory design to support a variety of subjects and learning styles. The laboratory layout encourages engagement between instructors and students, allowing for optimal customization to adapt to the specific learning style of a student. Every aspect of the custom lab design reinforces safety, mimicking an actual hospital environment, providing real-world application.
The student-focused design enables each office to be outward-facing, giving faculty visibility and accessibility to academic interactions with students. Specific attention was paid to optimizing the building’s exterior envelope, not only for aesthetic effect and energy performance, but also to protect the sciences rooms from damaging natural light.
