Returning the Early Childhood School to the main campus presented seemingly contradictory requirements: combining a high-visibility location at the front of the school with a strong sense of privacy and individual identity.

The variety of spaces, each with unique qualities and characteristics, provides teachers with a range of tools with which to respond to the learning needs of every child.
The primary volume contains the core “Reggio” spaces—the Piazza, the Atelier and the Cucina. The “toolbox” of support spaces facilitates the agile and child-focused methods inspired by the Reggio Emilia model. Large and small spaces are provided for different modes of learning (individual, large and small group, etc.). Bright daylighting and views, both focused and expansive, to the garden courtyard underscore the importance of nature to the curriculum.
