The quad emphasizes the collaboration of the different College of Engineering disciplines by creating different areas where students can interact with one another. This area gives the college a gathering space that is central for events and other activities.
A staircase from the quad ties into the improved Estabrook streetscape, which features new seating plazas, sidewalks, curbs, lighting, benches and trees, as well as improved Wi-Fi access.
Increased safety is addressed through additional security cameras and the placement of UT Police Department Blue Phones throughout the area.
