The new Communication, Public Policy & Applied Ethics Building is an important component to the campus master-plan's vision for a campus gateway. Located prominently as the first building on the school's main entry drive, the new center firmly establishes to new visitors the image of Santa Clara University as it moves into the future.
The center was created to answer CAPACITY560COST PER SQ FT$254.00FEATURED IN1999 Architectural Portfolio need to provide additional educational space, improve the availability of technological resources, and to bring together three related departments within the school's College of Arts and Sciences.
With the importance of its location and to set the tone for future campus develoment, the new building successully captures the historic character of the existing campus and its "California Mission" heritage. It accomplishes this while accommodating technology and program functions that will allow this building to function effectively well into the 21st century. A state-of-the-art television studio with full production capabilities, tape-editing rooms, multimedia teleconference room, classrooms and faculty offices combine to offer a complete educational environment.
