The opening of this new three-story expansion marks the school’s commitment to its students, faculty, and staff. The 40,100-square-foot building provides classrooms for up to 144 students. The new facility provides state-of-the-art nursing education technologies, which include skills and simulation labs. These labs facilitate interaction between nursing students and the latest simulation mannequins. The wireless mannequins have patient-simulating capabilities, such as simulating the birth of a baby, making breath sounds and demonstrating signs and symptoms of chronic diseases and acute illnesses.
Using audio-visual techniques, the student/mannequin interactions are monitored, recorded and controlled remotely by an instructor, thereby enhancing the student/mannequin/instructor interchange.
The facility also houses an expanded library, seminar rooms, and administrative offices. Other amenities include a student lounge with a kitchen, fireplace and television, which acts as a gathering space for students to collaborate.
The third floor is currently shell space.
