DeSales University, Gambet Center for Business and Healthcare
Center Valley, Pennsylvania
The Gambet Center at DeSales University is a state-of-the-art facility for business, nursing and physician assistant education. The project is LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The interior of the building features a central lobby and stair with direct access to both main entrances. The two-story lobby is surrounded by a café, a lounge and several COST PER SQ FT$266.50FEATURED IN2015 Architectural Portfolio areas to facilitate interaction of students and faculty outside the lab/classroom environment.
The core of the building contains classrooms and labs. The business program will use a specialized business classroom that can simulate a mock trading floor along with a digital “ticker tape.” The nursing and physician assistant programs will have access to basic skill labs, a standardized patient simulation lab, five human simulator labs with adult, adolescent and pediatric simulators, and a human anatomy lab.
All administrative and faculty offices are organized along the perimeter of the building so that every office has expansive windows and abundant natural light. The natural light is controlled by a series of sunscreens and light shelves. Door sidelights and transoms allow natural light to filter through the offices and into interior spaces.
In addition to the technological advances built into the learning spaces, the Gambet Center incorporates sustainable design features that promote the health and well-being of the students and the faculty. The high-performance building is energy- and water-efficient and has superior indoor environmental air and temperature quality.
