The Switzer Group was commissioned to relocate St. John’s University’s Manhattan Campus to a new, state-of-the-art building for its School of Risk Management and Tobin College of Business. With its own identity at 101 Astor Place, St. John’s Manhattan Campus is now within one of New York City’s major hubs for higher education.
At the building’s center, and backed by COST PER SQ FT$144.53FEATURED IN2015 Educational Interiors ShowcaseINTERIOR CATEGORYCommon Areas illuminated three-story branding graphic wall, the new concrete and steel interconnecting stair physically transverses and binds together the campus’s three levels, connecting several inviting communal areas for students and educators to gather.
The lounge on the concourse level is partially open to the ground floor above, connecting this underground space to the light and the outside beyond. Additional student lounge space, the Davis Library Archives, facilities offices and two large classrooms are accessed from this lounge.
The second-floor lobby and lounge functions as a gateway to the majority of the campus’s classrooms, administrative offices, and the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library, which houses extensive current and archival collections.
