Three phases of CAPACITY154,100CITATIONCampus Master Planning CitationFEATURED IN2014 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYCampus Master Planning process:
• Contextualize - Confirm academic objectives, existing data, and future programming needs.
• Visualize - Develop site concept plan, building development plan, and design guidelines.
• Validate - Finalize development plan and phasing, develop cost guidelines.
The master plan features a series of interlocking quads, maintaining the existing building layout and creating a new campus core. The plan maintains visual character of the rolling plain of land and continues the mission and rancheros inspiration of the rural setting. Challenges and primary goals included creating a clearly identifiable front door (resolved by the Campus Center siting) and intuitive, pedestrian-friendly circulation and wayfinding. The plan’s framework leads to a central core, creating a hierarchy of open spaces, allowing for efficient, incremental growth of buildings that have been phased to support program needs/replacement facilities.
