The four-story building is organized into research and teaching wings connected by a bridge. The teaching wing houses Problem-Based Learning (PBL) classrooms, which are physically and visually connected to flexible instructional labs and create a continuous learning environment. Easily adaptable to pedagogical changes, the technology rich lab-classroom modules provide movable furniture and writable wall surfaces to stimulate active problem solving among the students.

Informal collaborative spaces throughout the building encourage a dialog and exchange of ideas and experiences outside of the classroom. Further energizing science education, students can use these spaces to engage in group study before and after class. These spaces include the double- height commons lobby on the ground floor, gathering areas outside labs and classrooms, and the outdoor courtyard.
