In 2009, Muhlenberg College embarked on an expansion and renovation of Seegers Union to centralize student life and expand informal social space; develop a dining facility with a flexible dining plan; and create a campus living room to be enjoyed by students, faculty, employees and visitors.

The new architecture of Seegers reflects this massing and attention to detail and craft while reinterpreting these traditions in a contemporary way. The main communal space completes a new quadrangle with an important connection to the outdoors. It is home to a variety of departments and student organizations, as well as a popular venue for programs and activities.
Dining options include exhibition cooking from fresh local ingredients, international food, comfort food, kosher items, an Italian kitchen, salad/vegan station and deli.
Seegers’ new dining room “hearthstone,” the Light Lounge (living room), and the outdoor terrace are significant new amenities in the daily lives of students. They are attractive to visiting prospective families, and a place to foster memories, create chance encounters and build alumni allegiance.
