A soaring, multi-story lobby leads to all the features of the building and provides spectacular vantage points to overlook the interior functions of the building. The south facade required a scrim-coated glazing system to reduce solar heat gain. Exterior walls are pre-stressed, insulated precast panels. A brick form liner with staining (after erection) was used on the panels. Precast concrete floor systems, steel roof joists and acoustical metal roof deck also were used in the construction.

Four separate building HVAC systems were required to adequately heat, cool and ventilate the distinct areas of the building. The heating/cooling design has a geothermal system that keeps the pools at a constant temperature.

“A dramatic, soaring lobby space. Good connections and visibility.”--2013 jury
