A vision for the future of Oral Roberts University (ORU) may be summed up in the construction of its new, state-of-the-art Armand Hammer Student Union. As the first new construction project on campus in 30 years, this modern structure represents a new era of growth and a critical component in making ORU a competitive force for years ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOST PER SQ FT$392.85FEATURED IN2012 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYWork in Progress come.

The exterior will consist of a creamy ceramic tile and blue reflective glass—a striking, modern combination that underscores a fresh new image for the university. On two sides is a perforated metal screen wall that by day acts as a sunscreen and by night as a dramatic electronic light display. A youthful color palette inside serves to delineate student activity zones, including quiet spaces, live performance areas, an Internet cafe and a mammoth 12-foot by 21-foot screen for viewing concerts, sporting events or serious video game competitions.

The second floor of the new student union will serve as a gathering space for alumni, thereby connecting ORU’s past with future generations.
